  • Businesses felt that the biggest barrier to starting a project was finding and establishing trust in the right academic partner.
  • Encouragingly, we found that the vast majority of partnerships are successful, with 89% deemed an overall success.
  • We found that the geographical proximity of the university and business partners had an adverse impact on success. The only unsuccessful projects we found occurred when businesses were located close to their university partner.
