Investment in UK startups falls by largest amount in five years

We've just published our latest edition of The Deal, looking at all equity investment across the whole of 2016. Until 2016, equity investment into UK companies had increased every year since 2011. That was true despite quarterly drops, despite a change of government, and despite an initially turbulent economy. Now, examining full-year data, it has fallen for the first time.

CES 2017: our pick of the UK exhibitors

Drone startups high-fliers within UK tech sector


Prior to 2010, the word 'drone' connoted either a tedious monologue or something reminiscent of science fiction. That all changed, however, with the advent of remote-controlled aircraft. Drones are now widespread in warfare, but they also have a wide variety of commercial and recreational applications. Beauhurst tracks 20 UK-based drone startups that have received equity investment, and only one of these – OpenWorks Engineering – is explicitly designed for conflict.
