Key highlights:

£4.9bn – the highest on record – was invested into the UK’s fast-growth businesses, across 2,989 transactions.

But deals into seed-stage companies tumbled in the second half of the year.

Crowdfunding platforms increased deal activity by 46%. Crowdcube and Seedrs were most active investors in 2015.

Life science investment hit record high of nearly £700m, largely thanks to Neil Woodford’s investments.

London increased its dominance, taking 52% of the total invested in private UK companies.
