Top 50 Funding Platform Companies in the UK | 2026

UK funding platforms connect investors, lenders and donors with businesses, property projects and causes seeking capital. But which platforms have attracted the most investment themselves?

Funding platforms connect people with money to businesses, projects, and causes that need it. Using Beauhurst data, we’ve ranked 50 UK-headquartered funding platform companies by the total equity funding they have raised.

Together, the companies in our wider analysis have raised £1.03b across 357 equity rounds. Unusually, the sector’s peak year was 2015.

This is not a ranking of the largest platforms by money raised for others. Instead, it shows which funding platform businesses have themselves attracted the most equity investment.

The UK funding platform sector

A funding platform is an intermediary. It matches capital with the companies, developments, or causes seeking it, and takes a fee for doing so.

The model covers equity crowdfunding, peer-to-peer lending, property finance, and charitable giving, all of which grew out of the same post-2008 opening for non-bank finance.

The companies in our analysis fall into three broad groups:

  • Equity crowdfunding and investor matching: Platforms where businesses raise equity from retail and professional investors.
  • Debt and business lending: Peer-to-peer and marketplace lenders providing working capital and loans to companies.
  • Property and purpose-led funding: Development and buy-to-let finance, alongside platforms for charitable, civic, and environmental projects.

Application software is a secondary tag on 50 of the 52 companies tracked, loans, debt and grants on 17, and investment banking and corporate finance on 12.

There are 52 companies in the wider cohort today, compared with 30 at the end of 2015 and 44 at the end of 2020. That makes this one of the smallest cohorts in our Top 100 series.

Most are mid-stage businesses. Some 22 companies are at growth stage and 19 at venture, with five at seed and three established. One has exited, one is recorded as dead, and one as a zombie.

Company formation has almost stopped. Five companies in the cohort were founded in 2017, against none in 2024 and two in 2025.

Funding platform funding in the UK

Across the companies in our analysis, total equity funding stands at £1.03b across 357 equity rounds.

Funding Circle leads the ranking with £256m. The SME lending marketplace listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2018 and reported £204m in turnover in its latest accounts, more than six times any other company in the cohort.

LendInvest follows with £109m in property finance, ahead of Goodstack (£85.8m) in charitable giving, Floww (£55.2m) in investor portfolio management, and Crowdcube (£46.7m) in equity crowdfunding.

Concentration is high for a cohort this size. Funding Circle accounts for 25% of the total, the top five for 54%, and the top 10 for 69%.

Revenue is thin below the leader. After Funding Circle, the next highest earners are Rimbal at £34.0m, Crowdcube at £9.76m, and Assetz Capital at £9.04m.

Who invests in UK funding platforms?

The sector funds itself more than any other we have ranked.

Republic Europe, formerly Seedrs, has participated in 34 rounds and Crowdcube in 16. Both appear in the ranking as companies, and together they account for roughly half of all recorded investor participations in the cohort.

That is the clearest example of circularity in this series. Equity crowdfunding platforms are themselves funded by equity crowdfunding, often by each other.

Institutional capital is comparatively scarce. The Future Fund appears in eight rounds, Equity Gap and Index Ventures in seven each, and Balderton Capital in five. By value, DST Global, Sands Capital, and Temasek lead at £182m each, reflecting their joint participation in a single large round.

Funding platform companies by stage of growth

The cohort has aged without consolidating.

Some 22 companies are at growth stage and 19 at venture, but only three have reached established status, and just one company has exited: Seedrs, acquired by Republic in 2022.

One company, The Right Crowd, is recorded as dead, and one, MyWorld, as a zombie.

For a sector that has existed in its current form for more than 15 years, that is a low rate of both failure and exit, pointing to businesses that are sustainable at modest scale rather than growing towards an outcome.

Methodology

To create this ranking, we used the Beauhurst platform to identify companies that are:

  • Headquartered in the UK
  • Operating within Beauhurst’s ‘Funding platforms’ industry classification
  • Listed as ‘Active’ on Companies House

We then ranked the companies by total equity funding raised. The top 50 below are taken from a wider tracked cohort of 52 companies.

Several companies in the cohort operate across lending, investment, and payments, and their funding figures relate to the wider business. The ranking measures equity raised by the platforms themselves, not the capital they have raised on behalf of others.

All data is correct as of 13 October 2026.

UK funding platform investment: investment trends

This sector has the earliest peak of any ranking in our Top 100 series.

Funding reached £156m in 2015 and has never come close since. The strongest subsequent years are 2016 at £99.4m, 2022 at £90.7m, and 2024 at £86.5m.

Only 39% of the capital recorded across the cohort has been raised since 2020, the lowest share of any sector we have ranked. For comparison, the figure for AI startups is 99%.

Deal numbers have fallen too, from 35 rounds in 2017 to nine so far in 2026.

The explanation is partly regulatory. Tighter FCA rules on peer-to-peer lending and retail investment promotion from 2019 onwards raised compliance costs and narrowed the retail investor base the model depends on.

Equity crowdfunding and investor matching

Equity crowdfunding is the most recognisable part of the sector and the most consolidated.

Crowdcube (£46.7m) and Seedrs (£34.9m) dominate, having attempted a merger in 2020 that the Competition and Markets Authority blocked. Seedrs was acquired by Republic two years later.

Smaller platforms serve specific niches, including SyndicateRoom (£7.23m) for co-investment alongside professionals, Envestors for investor networks, and Connectd (£16.4m) for matching startups with advisors as well as capital.

Floww (£55.2m) and Funderbeam (£21.9m) have moved towards infrastructure, providing portfolio and secondary market tools rather than running raises directly.

Debt and business lending

Lending platforms account for the largest company in the sector and most of its revenue.

Funding Circle (£256m) is the clear leader, alongside Assetz Capital (£10.7m), LendingCrowd (£9.97m), and Crowd2Fund (£8.38m).

Newer entrants have moved away from retail lenders towards institutional funding, including Triver (£31.5m) in invoice-based cashflow, Finverity (£12.9m) in supply chain finance, and Fero (£17.5m) in inventory finance for wine and spirits.

That shift away from retail capital is the sector’s most significant structural change since 2015.

Property and purpose-led funding

Property finance has proven the most durable application of the model.

LendInvest (£109m) leads, followed by London House Exchange (£29.2m), CrowdProperty (£24.5m), and StrideUp (£11.2m), which helps buyers co-own homes with investors.

A distinct group funds causes rather than companies. Goodstack (£85.8m) is the second largest business in the cohort and routes donations through everyday spending, while Ecologi (£9.54m), Tumelo (£26.5m), Earthly, Spacehive, and Crowdfunder support environmental, civic, and community projects.

This purpose-led group has attracted more capital in recent years than equity crowdfunding has.
