Top Femtech Companies in the UK | 2026

Femtech — technology designed to address women’s health and wellbeing — has been one of the UK’s fastest-growing sectors over the past decade, with active company numbers up 864% since 2015. After a record £177.1m raised in 2024 and a further £77.2m in 2025, the sector is finally attracting the kind of investor attention that women’s health has historically lacked.

We’ve ranked the top 50 femtech companies by total equity raised (all data sourced from the Beauhurst platform).

What is femtech?

Femtech — short for female technology — refers to companies developing technology-led products and services focused on women’s health, wellbeing, and bodies. This spans menstrual and ovulation tracking apps, fertility and reproductive health tools, menopause management platforms, hormone testing and diagnostics, sexual wellness products, maternal and postnatal care, breast and gynaecological diagnostics, and broader healthcare platforms targeted at women.

The UK has 106 active femtech companies — a small but extraordinarily fast-growing sector. The number of active companies has grown 864% over the past decade (from 11 in 2015), the highest growth rate of any sector we’ve analysed by some distance.

Collectively, UK femtech companies have raised £477.6m in equity funding, with £417.5m — 87% of the total — secured since 2020. These companies employ an estimated 1,159 people and generate a combined turnover of £351m

Key findings

  • Flo Health, the menstrual and ovulation tracking app, dominates the ranking with £206.5m raised — accounting for 43% of all funding raised by the top 50 combined. It is followed by Peppy (£46.4m), an employer-provided benefits platform specialising in fertility and menopause, and SheMed (£37.5m), a female-focused weight loss programme. Micrima (£21.9m), a Bristol-based breast scanning technology company, and Hertility (£19.7m), an at-home fertility diagnostics platform, complete the top five.
  • London accounts for 27 of the top 50 companies — a heavy concentration, though the South East (seven), South West (four), and West Midlands (three) all feature. The sector also has companies in Wales, Aberdeen, the North East, and North West, reflecting a broader regional spread than the company count would suggest.
  • The stage breakdown reveals just how early-stage femtech still is: 23 of the top 50 are at Seed-stage and 20 at Venture-stage, with only four at Growth and two Established. Just one company in the top 50 has exited. This is the most early-stage-weighted distribution of any sector we’ve analysed — a clear signal that femtech is still in its formative years.
  • The top 50 have collectively raised £476.2m, representing essentially all of UK femtech funding to date. The sector’s concentration at the top is notable: Flo Health alone has raised more than the next nine companies combined.

The future of femtech in the UK

Femtech’s growth trajectory has been remarkable. Investment rose from £11.7m in 2020 to a peak of £177.1m in 2024 — a more than fifteen-fold increase in four years. While 2025’s £77.2m represents a step down from that peak, it remains the second-highest annual figure on record, and the long-term direction of travel is clearly upward.

Several trends are likely to sustain this momentum. The historic underfunding of women’s health research has created a vast addressable market, and conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, and menopause are finally receiving serious commercial attention. Companies like Vira Health, Adora, Hysteron, and Balance App are building dedicated menopause platforms, while Hertility, Béa Fertility, and Genie Fertility are tackling fertility from different angles.

The corporate benefits angle is also emerging as a significant growth area, led by Peppy and Matresa, which deliver women’s health support through employers. AI is starting to play a role too — Revela uses AI ultrasound analysis for endometriosis diagnosis, while Genie Fertility applies AI to menstrual blood analysis.

New company formations have remained steady at 10–16 per year since 2020, and with the UK government’s renewed focus on women’s health following the Women’s Health Strategy, the conditions for continued sector growth remain strong.
